Atrebatia was the Saxon kingdom that covered the valley of what is now the Bristol Avon river, and a little beyond - covering from Severnside through Bristol and Bath to the Bradford-on-Avon, Melksham, Chippenham and Malmesbury areas.

In current times, this river valley and a slightly wider area to stretch out to Clevedon, Radstock, Frome, Warminster, Devizes, Swindon, Stroud and Sharpness is a natural commercial "bowl" / travel to work area with transport and other services having a natural economic affinity.
